In 1883 George Maw set up a factory at Ironbridge in Shrophire
to produce a range of ceramic tiles including this beautiful
design. Beth Russell has remained true to the original, but
has added a geometric border.
The original tiles are now in the Jackfield Tile Museum
in Shropshire. Because of the difficulties in printing perfectly
straight lines onto canvas, the border pattern comes as
a chart.
