William Morris Lodden

look at the next design
Lodden was designed by William Morris as a cotton or linen fabric and was printed at his works in Merton Abbey in 1884. The printing was done by hand, using hand-carved blocks usually made of pear wood.

Morris' original background was light. The colours in the kit are designed to blend well with the Strawberry Thieves and Lodden works as well with Morris' favorite indigo blue background as the original.

Beth Russell has adapted Lodden into two needlepoint kits. Each is beautifully printed on strong polished de luxe canvas which is large enough to be made into either cushions or chair seats.
Sufficient wool is included to stitch an area approximately 13x17" (33x43cm); more is available from Designers Forum. Both designs are available with either a dark blue or light grey background. Please state which colour is required when ordering.

CANVAS: 14#/in Zweigart White Mono De Luxe, 22x26" (56x66cm).
DESIGN: 11x14" (28x35cm).
WOOLS: Appleton crewel (with a choice of indigo blue or pastel grey-blue background).
STITCH: Tent/Basketweave.
