William Morris Pomegranate Rug

look at the next design
William Morris produced a very pretty watercolour and ink sketch some time between 1880 - 1896, which is in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.

William Morris - Pomegranate Rug

Beth Russell
has transformed this delicate painting into a very elegant needlepoint rug, as usual keeping to Morris' sensitive colouring and proportions.

To provide an insight into Beth's interpretations of William Morris designs, we have combined parts of a stitched rug with Morris' unfinished watercolour to produce the image opposite.

A picture of the original watercolour as well as the chart for the Pomegranate Rug may be found in Beth Russell's book Traditional Needlepoint which is now available in paperback.
